
Dr Howard Dobbs has a Ph.D in Physics. After doing materials science research at Reading University he became a lecturer in Biomaterials at the Institute of Orthopaedics in London. Later he worked for J&J Orthopaedics, Zimmer International and Smith & Nephew in Memphis, where he was Group Director of International Regulatory Affairs. Today he runs a small consultancy company called HSD Consulting. With his associates he specialises in European, US and International Regulatory Affairs, Quality Assurance and Reimbursement. He is a Chartered Engineer, is a member of the orthopaedic special interest section of the ABHI, participates in national and international standard development work for Joint Replacements, Orthopaedic Materials and Osteosynthesis and has published on a variety of subjects including CE marking, labeling, packaging, technical files and the forthcoming EU up-classification of hip, knee and shoulder implants.

Denis Pichon is a mechanical engineer by education, University of Paris and a master from the Management Institute of Rennes (IGR). Since he graduated, he has focused medical devices, since 1991 working in various major corporations such as Stryker and Wright Medical, leading their international operations (Industrialisation. Development, Project Management, Marketing & General Management). He has directed major operation transfers, development plans, acquisition, technology transfer and marketing action plans for innovation projects. He is now at the head of Askorn Medical which is specialised on product development, IP management, CE marking, manufacturing and other commercial activities with a particular knowledge of markets in France, UK and Belgium.
